Body
With A, ch 72 (78). **Row 1 (right side): 1 sc in 2nd pc from hook. *1 tr in the next pc. 1 sc in the next ch. Repeat from * to the end of the pc. Tour. 71 (77) points.
Row 2: PC 3. *1 sc in the next tr. 1 tr in the next sc. Repeat from * to the end of the row. Tour.
Row 3: PC 1. 1 sc in the first dc. *1 tr in the next sc. 1 sc in the next dc. Repeat from * to the end of the row. Tour. **Repeat the last 2 rows for the pattern for a total length of 7″ [18 cm], ending on a row on the wrong side.
divide for armholes
Right Front: Row 1 (right side): Pc 1. Pattern through 15 (17) stitches. Tour. Leave the remaining stitches unworked. Continue in the same pattern in 15 (17) stitches for 12 (14) more rows. fasten.
Back: With the right side facing you, skip the next 7 stitches. Join the thread with a sr in the next stitch. Pc 1 and pattern through the next 27 (29) stitches. Tour. Leave the remaining stitches unworked. Continue the pattern in 27 (29) stitches for 12 (14) more rows. fasten.
Left Front: With the correct side facing you, skip the next 7 stitches. Join the thread with a sr in the next stitch. Pc 1 and pattern through the next 15 (17) stitches. Tour. Continue the pattern in 15 (17) stitches for 12 (14) more rows.
fasten. Place the marker along the final row of front and back 6 (7) stitches from the edges of the shoulder armholes. Sew the shoulder seams. fasten. Place the marker on the side edges 1″ [2.5 cm] down from the last row.
Hood
Start at the edge of the face, with A, pc 54 (58). Work from ** to ** as directed for the body. 53 (57) points. Work in the pattern to a total length of 6 (6 1⁄2)” [15 (16.5) cm], ending with a row on the wrong side. fasten.
Fold the last row in half and sew the center back seam. Sew the sides of the hood to the edge of the collar (tucking the hood in as needed).
Finish
With correct side facing, place 3-buttonhole marker on right front: top hole 1⁄2″ [1 cm] below neck edge, bottom hole 7″ [18 cm] above bottom edge and hole remaining centered between the two.
Sew around the open space in the buttonhole pattern 3⁄4″ [2 cm] from the front edge. Sew the buttons corresponding to the buttonholes. Sew the sleeves, placing rows above the markers along the raw stitches in the armholes to form square armholes.
pom pom
With B, ch 12. Work from ** to ** as indicated for the body. 11 points. Work in the pattern to a total length of 3″ [7.5 cm]. Fasten, leaving a long end. Thread the end onto the tapestry needle and gather around the outer edges of the pom pom, tucking in stuffing before closing. Sew to the tip of the hood.
