FREE PATTERN Chess Blanket in Crochet Loops

Chain 3 at the beginning of the row counts as 1 double crochet.

Chain 1 at the beginning of the row does not count as a point.

To attach the new color, work through the last 2 loops on the hook of the previous color. Work with the new color, go through the remaining loops and continue with the new color.

When working with 2 colors in a row, bring the color not in use loosely across the top of the last row and work stitches around it to enclose it, making sure to maintain gauge.

For the blanket: With CP, make 157 chains (multiple of 16 chains + 13).

Notes for the diagram

Each square/rectangle in the diagram represents 1 stitch, keeping in mind that the first 3 chains of the 7th, 8th, 15th and 16th rows of the Tuft pattern count as the first stitch.

The loops will form on the opposite side of the work. Then you work the rows on the right side, pulling the loops formed on the wrong side through the fabric to the right side of the work.

The rows on the right side (odd rows) are read from right to left. The rows on the wrong side (even rows) are read from left to right.
