Tricks and tips
The Cornelius Tweed jumper for children is knitted in several parts that are joined at the end.
All rows are turned with 1 ch unless otherwise indicated.
Forehead
Start with Pickles (21). 37 (45) 53 ch + 1 ch to turn (37 (45) 53).
The number has to be divisible by 8 + 5
Rounds 1-3: 1 sc in each st (37 (45) 53).
Ivory Neon
Rnd 4: 1 sc in each st (37 (45) 53).
Round 5: 6 sc, (1 speck, 7 sc) 3 (4) 5 times, 1 speck, 6 sc.
Round 6: 1 sc in each st
Round 7: 5 sc, (1 speck, 1 sc, 1 speck, 5 sc) 4 (5) 6 times.
Round 8: 1 sc in each st
Round 9: 6 sc, (1 speck, 7 sc) 3 (4) 5 times, 1 speck, 6 sc.
Round 10: 1 sc in each st.
It switches between the two colors, Pickles and Ivory Neon, every 7 turns.
Work 28 (35) 42 more rows of which all the Pickles rows are knit with 1 sc in each st, while the Ivory Neon rows are knit the same as rounds 4-10.
Tie 3 vts (37 (45) 53).
Now we are going to knit shoulders and neckline
Milk 9 (12) 15 pb, gira (9 (12) 15).
Knit 3 more rows and cut the yarn.
On the opposite side, knit 4 rows with 9 (12) 15 sc to knit the opposite shoulder.
Back
Start with Pickles. 37 (45) 53 ch + 1 ch to turn (37 (45) 53).
Rnd 1-3: 1 sc in each st.
Switch to Ivory Neon, and switch between the two colors Pickles and Ivory Neon every 7 turns.
Knit 35 (42) 49 rows with 1 sc in each st (37 (45) 53).
Knit 6 more rows with 1 sr in each st.
Now the shoulders and the neckline are knitted.
Milk 9 (12) 15 pb, gira (9 (12) 15).
On the opposite side, knit 1 round with 9 (12) 15 sc to knit the opposite shoulder.
Place front and back face to face and tog at shoulder seams with 1 sr in each st from wrong side.
With the same color you just knitted with: Crochet 52 (56) 60 sc in the neck from the right side (1 st in each st, 1 st in each back + 1 st in the 4 corners of the square opening).
Manga (x2): Wisteria Bloom
First row: Starting from the right side, counting 16 (20) 25 rows from the shoulder seam. Crochet 16 (20) 25 sc to the shoulder seam and the same number down to sc on the opposite side (32 (40) 50).
Number of stitches of the first round: 32 (40) 50.
*Knit 4 rows with 1 sc in each st.
Next row: Work 2 sc tog, 1 sc in each st until there are 2 sts left on the row, work 2 sc together* Repeat from * to * in such a way that you dec 2 sts every 5 rows, until 18 (24) remain. 32 points. From now on it is knitted as follows:
Size 3-6 months: 1 sc in each st (18).
Size 6-12 months: (2 sc together, 4 sc) 4 times (20).
Size 12-24 months: (2 sc together, 2 sc) 8 times (24).
Last row in all sizes: 1 sc in each st (18 (20) 24).
Knit the other sleeve the same.
Rib knit edges
Sleeve edges (x2): Pickles
Ch 5 (6) 8 + ch 1 to turn (5 (6) 8).
Knit 18 (20) 24 rows with 1 sr in each back loop to knit rib (5 (6) 8).
Join to the first st with st to form a ring.
Elastic edge of the body: Pickles
Ch 5 (6) 8 + ch 1 to turn (5 (6) 8).
Knit 74 (90) 106 rows with 1 sr in each back loop to knit rib (5 (6) 8). Join to the first st with st to form a ring.
Neck: Wisteria Bloom
10 (12) 15 ch + 1 ch to turn (10 (12) 15).
Knit 78 (84) 90 rows with 1 sr in each back loop to knit rib (10 (12) 15).
Join to the first st with st to form a ring. Fold the work and sc through the two layers so that the collar is two layers.
(1 sc, 2 sc together) 26 (28) 30 times (52 (56) 60).
Mounting
Join the sides from the wrong side with 1 sr on each row from the bottom and continue to the end of the sleeves.
The elasticated edges of the sleeves are placed around the cuffs so that the two pieces are face to face. Then join by knitting 1 pr in each st/vt.
Place the rib edge of the body together with the jumper, face to face, and knit from the wrong side with 1 sr in each st.
The neck edge is cast on in the same way at the neck opening, where a round of sc is worked.
