Chick: Yellow thread

Tip: If you have trouble closing the magic ring, work 2 sc and sc in the 2nd sc from the hook.

R1: 6 Pb in the magic ring (6)

R2: [Inc] x6 (12)

R3: [Sc, inc] x6 (18)

R4: Sc, inc, [2 sc, inc] x5, sc (24)

R5-6: [Pb] x24 (24) 2 rounds.

R7: 6 sc, [FLO pr, 2 sc, hdc in the second sc from the hook, FLO pr in the same st], 10 sc, [FLO pr, 2 sc, hdc in the second sc from the hook, FLO pr in the same st], 6 sc.

In round 8, sc in back loop left over from round 7, under each wing.

R8-9: [Pb] x24 (24) 2 rounds.

Insert the safety eyes between R5 and R6, approximately 5 points apart and 2 points from the wings on each side.

Using orange thread, sew the beak over a single sc between R5 and R6 and centered between the eyes. We sewed it 3 times to get the desired look.

R10: Pb, invdism, [2 pb, invdism] x5, pb (18)

Start filling in and continue filling in as you go.

R11: [Pb, invdism] x6 (12)

R12: [Invdism] x6 (6)

Cut the thread leaving a tail and pass it through the last stitch. Pass the tail of the thread only through the front loop of the last round and pull it to close. Hide the end inside the chick.

To finish, take a strand of yellow yarn, fold it in half and pass it through a point on the top of the head, leaving a loop. Thread the ends through the loop and pull them to close. Trim the ends to the desired length (about 1/4″).
