First we make the top of the bird’s head, then the body, and finally the tail. Everything is done in one continuous piece. Then we will make the eyes, beak, wings, legs and the optional wooden branch.

Finish off leaving a long tail to sew. Place each eye on the parrot’s head, making sure they line up centered with the tail. I separated each white eye about 3 points. Once you’re happy with the placement, sew and weave the ends.
Beak
Start in black or gray.

On the next round we will make the feathers by creating a pc and then knitting again on the arm.
Round 11: Change to yellow. Repeat *sc in the next stitch, ch 3* 15 times (number of stitches: 60. 15 sc and 45 ch).
On the next round we will knit a little differently in the stitches from the previous round. Fold the feathers towards you, you will see a “v” at each point (photo 5). Insert your hook into the right post of that “v” (photo 6). Continue doing your pb as normal (photo 7).
Round 12: Repeat *sc in the next stitch, ch 3* 15 times (number of stitches: 60. 15 sc and 45 ch).
In the next round we will continue knitting in the points of the previous round as we did in round 12. Keep looking for the next “v” and knit in the right post of the “v”.
Lap 13: Switch to red. *Pb* all around. (fifteen)
Round 14: Now we can do our sc as normal. *Pb* all around. (fifteen)
Round 15: *Dec, sc 3* all around. (12)
Round 16: *Dec, sc 2* all around. (9)
Finish off, leaving a long tail to sew. Pin each arm as shown. Don’t fill. Sew and weave the ends.
Feet (beam 4)
Use gray thread.
We will make 4 foot pieces in total, and we will sew 2 together to make 1 foot.
Round 1: 6 sc in a magic ring. (6)
Round 2: *Inc* in the next stitch. Repeat *sc 3, sc in the 2nd sc from the hook, sc in the next sc, sl st in the next stitch in the circle* 2 times. Dc in the next 2 sts, sc 3, sc in the 2nd sc from the hook, dc in the next sc, sc in the next st in the circle. (13)
Finish off, leaving a long tail to sew.
Optional: If you want the feet to bend, do not do the following if you are making the toy for a child.
Take a metal wire and bend it so that it follows the foot as shown (photo 1). Cut the wire to the size of the knitted foot. Wrap the thread tightly around the ends of the wire and secure it with hot glue to prevent it from sticking out and touching a sharp edge.
Now place the second foot on top and sew them together, going from the bottom foot piece to the top foot piece (photo 2). Pin each foot onto the bird as shown and sew – make sure the feet line up with the placement of the eyes so it is even.
Branch
Use brown thread.
Round 1: 6 sc in a magic ring. (6)
Round 2: *Inc* all around. (12)
Round 3: In the BLO, *sc* all around. (12)

Row 22: Sc in the next 5 stitches, make 1 popcorn stitch in the next stitch. SC in the next 6 points. (12)
Round 23-24: *Pb* all around. (12)
Fill the stick firmly now.
Round 25: In the BLO, *dec* all around. (6)
Finish by leaving a long tail to sew. Sew the remaining stitches closed and weave the ends.
Place your feet on top of the branch as shown. Sew it with gray thread – sew going from the stick to the foot of the toy.
Repeat this operation until it is completely sewn. Once this is done, tie a knot with the end of the thread and tuck it into the toy to hide it. Cut the excess thread.
