Insert the safety eyes between R8 and R9, with 5 points apart.

Cut the thread leaving a tail and pass it through the last st. Pass the tail of the yarn through the front loop of the last round only and pull to close. Hide the end inside the bean.

With 2 strands of black embroidery thread, sew a mouth between the eyes.

With pink thread, sew the cheeks just below and to the sides of each eye, passing twice over a single st.

R13 should end at the corner. If not, add or subtract a few points as needed.

Close invisibly leaving a long tail to sew.

Place the beans inside the shell. Find the center of each end and pinch it to remove any slack around the beans; use point markers to keep them in place. Make sure the fold is centered on each side and the dots line up. Sew in place on both sides. Repeat the operation on the other side using a long strand of dark green thread. Be sure to sew the same number of sts on each side (in our case, 4 sts). Knit the ends.
