It is important to work in continuous spiral turns. Unless otherwise specified, do not join at the end of each round.

Body

From bottom to top. With the color Honey create an am.

Round 1: 6 sc in the am = 6.

Round 2: Blo – only for this round- *inc* repeat 6 times = 12.

Round 3: *1 sc, inc* repeat 6 times = 18.

Round 4:  *2 sc, inc* repeat 6 times = 24.

Round 5: *3 sc, inc* repeat 6 times = 30.

Round 6 to 11: sc in each stitch = 30.

Round 12: *3 sc, dec* repeat 6 times = 24.

Insert and secure the safety eyes between rows 8 and 9.

Round 13: *2 sc, dec* repeat 6 times = 18.

Start filling in the body as you go along.

Round 14: sc in each stitch = 18.

Round 15: *1 sc, dec* repeat 6 times = 12.

Round 16: sc in each stitch = 12.

Round 17: *Dec* repeat 6 times = 6.

Round 18: sc in each stitch. fasten. Leave a tail.

If you want, you can add small strands of yarn to the bottom of the onion to mimic roots. In the sample, these strands have been pulled through those of round 2 and secured with a knot.

Sprouts (make 3)

With the Clover color, weave three Icords of different lengths, as long or as short as you like.

Once you’ve reached your desired length, make a yarn over and pull the yarn through all 3 loops on your hook (like a decrease). Finish off and weave in the ends. Place the sprouts inside the body. Next, use the tail of the body to sew the sprouts and onion together.

final touches

To create the cheeks, cut two small circles out of pink felt and carefully glue them under the eyes of the onion. If you don’t have felt, you can apply some blush with a cotton swab.

With a tapestry needle and black thread or black embroidery thread, embroider a smile. To create the arms, with Honey colored yarn, loop up one stitch on the side of the body and make 6 ch or more, depending on how long you want the arms to be. Finish off and fray the end.
