Instructions
When working double crochet in the rows 3 rows down, work in the front of the chain 2 spaces, not around.
Each skipped single crochet has 2 chains worked over it for 2 rows. This establishes the “gap” where the mosaic high point will later be worked.
The tile double crochet always replaces the sc directly behind them in the working row.
The wrong side of your work maintains the alternating 2-row stripe pattern, as you are working on the front of the chain spaces each time you work the patchwork double crochet – never work around the chain spaces. The chain spaces are placed behind the tile high point.
